Building the Country's Rating List

Posted by salimu on March 29, 2012 at 2:25 AM

I was doing some fishing for information this morning to see how well i performed in the recent Western Province Open and I did the obvious thing and went to the CHESSA website. I went to the ratings section and searched for my name, and sure enough there it was, with picture and number of tournaments played and the resulting rating.

I was quite impressed that the recent tournament had been captured and though not yet factored into the current rating I could easily calculate how many rating points I gained from the tournament. Incidentally I gained the most rating points in the tournament about +56 points, so I just added that to my current rating 1683 and I am now at 1739. It got me thinking how convenient and fulfilling it was so I got to wondering and asked Gunther Van Der Berg, the guy who manages the whole thing for CHESSA what it would take to get something like this going for Zim chess and he said it would be easy and he would help out get this in order.

Everything has a starting point so I figured we need to find out from Elton Mhangarayi if the files for the following tournaments

1. Zim Open 2010-2011

2. Easter Open 2011

3. Candidates Open 2011

4. National Champs 2011

5. Zim Open 2011-2012

Starting with these we can start building the national rating list.

So I need help with getting a communication to Elton to find out if this is possible. Can anyone help with this?
